Welcome to Newton Solney Life Drawing Group

COVID 19 UPDATES: THE CLUB IS OPEN AND YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US EACH THURSDAY ( 14th October 2021).

We are a non-profit, self-supporting group founded in 1994. We meet in Newton Solney Village Hall, next to the Unicorn Inn , every Thursday night from 7.00 to 9.30 pm and only close for two weeks over the Christmas holiday period and polling days. Our club is open to adults of all abilities, from retired art teachers, professional designers, students, sixth form pupils and interested amateurs. Visitors over the age of sixteen are most welcome to this friendly group. Although there is no tuition, members are always happy to discuss their work. Visitors have to bring their own drawing materials and help and advice is always available.

Every ten weeks we produce a new programme of models, which lists the ten or more models that we employ, stating the various lengths of pose. This might range from one pose all night to six short poses. We try to alternate male and female models and are always interested in contacting new professional life models.

The group is interested in finding locations for exhibitions and have in the past shown at the following venues; The Brewhouse (1997) Burton upon Trent, Susan Oppenhiem Gallery (1997) Repton, Burton town library (1999), The Palace Cinema and Media Centre (2000) Tamworth, Gallery 72 (2002-3) Burton, Burton Technical College Art Department (2003), Sudbury Hall (2003, 2004, 2005), Abbot Beyne School Gallery (2006) Burton, The Melbourne Arts Festival ( 2006, 2007), DNA Gallery (2007) Burton, The Gallery, No 1 High Street (2009) Repton, Burton upon Trent Library 2021.
